A short piece about a “fun side” of chronic pain
Have you ever experienced chronic pain? Four years ago, my health was a mess.
Sedentary lifestyle, juggling family and work related stress in financial industry, occasional superficial workouts and poor self-care led to a frozen shoulder syndrome, first left one, then the right one.
I couldn’t use my both hands properly, as my range of motion became very limited. I had to open doors with my legs, driving a car was painful and I couldn’t even reach for a cup in a cupboard or play properly with my child.
Just when I thought it wouldn’t get worse, COVID hit, making doctor visits and physiotherapy appointments very difficult.

From Pain to Gain
It took me two challenging years to get back into some decent shape – not perfect, but pretty okay.
Since that ugly experience, I’ve learned my lesson: now, not a single day goes by without some form of workout, whether it’s a quick morning yoga, an evening stretching session in my living room, or intense and short power muscle workout at home, outside or in a fitness club.
Breathing properly during yoga practice has been a game-changer for me during that painful period and today and every day!
Because focused rhythmic breathing has taught me to respond, rather than react to difficulties life throws at me, building my inner resilience daily.
One of my favorite discoveries has been a Yoga Trapeze. It’s not just a piece of equipment and this isn’t a typical gym workout or intense cardio session (but it can be)
This is Yoga Trapeze, where fitness meets fun!
Why Yoga Trapeze?
You have probably heard more about Aerial Yoga, with all those ladies dancing in the air.
Yoga Trapeze vs Aerial Yoga:
Both are great experience, nevertheless I prefer Yoga Trapeze because 3 type of handles make it more secure and functional to use, unlike Aerial Yoga, which doesn’t have handles.
Trapeze is a hammock-like ‘apparatus’ with handles that can be used for various yoga poses, strength training, and spinal inversion therapy. It’s great for back pain relief, spinal decompression and specially for building upper body and core strength.
Aerial Yoga: This practice uses a silk hammock suspended from the ceiling to support yoga poses in mid-air. It focuses on flexibility, balance, often incorporating more flowing, dance-like movements.
Both trapeze and aerial can be installed in your home, on a ceiling or on a yoga stand frame.
Yoga Trapeze deliveres Instant Spine Traction, Back Pain Relief, Core Strength, Spinal Flexibility, Shoulder Tension Release, Full-Body Strength & Mobility.
Now, some Breathing Benefits while practicing Yoga Trapeze.
When you are hanging upside down, diaphragmatic breathing becomes much easier and this deep, slower breathing enhances relaxation and boosts overall well-being.
Your breath follows your movement, you become ONE with your breath and motion.
All this to say that you don’t have to be a high-performing athlete or a fitness junkie to feel more energized, focused and simply joyfull, even while suffering from chronic pain.
Moderate workouts 5-6 times a week will get your circulation moving and your muscles working.
You know what we say: motion is lotion for our bodies!
Try, experiment, and choose what’s best for you. Please, don’t let anyone’s opinion limit, what your body and mind should or shouldn’t try and do!
Work with a professional, when needed, to guide you and help you do it properly.
